A wilderness vacation is great but what about your poor nerves getting there? Slate Falls Airways has been around since 1958 and have a fleet of 6 planes that is large and adaptable to meet any flight requirement.

Our state of the art "Queen of the Fleet" is the ultra modem Cessna Caravan. It is fast, (160 mph) quiet and comfortable and takes up to 9 passengers. The deHavilland turbo Otter is the workhorse of the industry and is used for moving large groups or awkward freight (like boats). Like the Caravan, it seats up to 9 people and though a little bit slower hauls a bit more weight.

Next, we have 2 Beavers, one for moving guests and gear and the other that I fly for overloads and guest servicing.

Finally, we have 2 Cessna 206's. These smaller 4 seaters are fast and versatile, fly overloads, passengers and do some service work.

Regardless of the people/gear combination, we can generally handle everything at one time. No hanging around the dock for hours waiting to fly out.

Not much sense having a great fleet of planes without a great staff of pilots to fly them.

We take great pride in the staff we have on our aircraft. They are friendly, courteous and competent. Our four Anchor Pilots consist of Kent, John, Collin, & Rich. All are seasoned and dedicated career "bush pilots". These 4 guys have accumulated over 6 decades of incident-free flying in Northwestern Ontario. This is a lot of expertise in one place!! Verne is now doing all of the service camp maintenance and overload flying.

Our rigid government approved training program enables the knowledge of these 4 to be passed on to the "junior" pilots that fly the smaller aircraft. Generally, even the junior pilots spend 2 or 3 seasons with us before moving on.

Slate Falls Airways is a Transport Canada approved maintenance facility.

We are forerunners in the industry on this count as well. We have a 4,800 square foot hangar and have a full time mechanic dedicated to our exclusive maintenance requirements. The same mechanic has been working on the same planes for over a decade and knows them inside and out.
