This is another very large lake with a unique twist: islands and hundreds of them. Physically the lake is 8 miles by 12 miles but there are so many islands in it that you are never faced with more than a mile or so of open water. The lake is a myriad of channels, bays and deep holding water. Dozens of weedy bays are fed by numerous creeks and streams and provide fantastic northern holding areas. Because it is a lake that has such a variety of structure it is best suited for people that want quality fish and know how to go look for them. We have 2 cabins on this lake, both have 3 bedrooms. The entire lake is part of a wilderness waterway park to preserve its natural beauty forever as well as give the provinces most southerly woodland caribou herd a piece of native habitat unaltered by man. Minnis WestMinnis Lake is a huge lake unique in our area. It has several hundred miles of shoreline but rather than being open, exposed lake, it is choked with 100's of islands keeping the angler always in "explore" mode and constantly having sheltered water to fish no matter the wind. In addition to the habitat created by the profusion of islands, Minnis has lots of deep water as well as shallow and this creates ideal habitat for the monster northerns. Walleyes abound as well. The 3 bedroom cabin is located near the river outlet on a long sandy beach. The large covered deck is the perfect fish frying location to sit in the shade and listen to the waves on the beach while planning the next attack on the fish. Minnis EastThis 3 bedroom cabin is centrally located on the north shore of the lake on a beautiful sand beach as well. The cabin features a point deck to sit and relax on after a hard day on the lake and even a sauna for a mid night clean up. Like our other cabins, Minnis east has a wooden walkway from the boat slips to the cabin so you can keep your cabin clean easily. All of the bays to the east of this cabin are fed by small steams and creeks that enter the lake in sheltered bays with lots of weeds just in from the deeper water for the big pike hang out. The rest of the lake is largely rocky shore, both granite and cobble and boulders with pretty little sand beaches scattered throughout. |
