This camp is probably our most popular camp with a strong spring, summer
and fall fishery. Walleyes run the range from "eaters" to trophies and large
northerns are scattered throughout. The camp is located in a quiet bay at
the mouth of the Birch River. This gives the angler the best of both worlds
when it comes to the fishing decision of what to do. Turn left and go the 6
miles up the river through small current areas and boatable rapids and
sheltered water or turn right and go explore the deeper holes in North Gull
and work some of those mid lake reefs and narrows. The 3 bedroom cabin will
take 8 people and has a large covered deck right on the lake edge.
South Gull Lake
This 2 bedroom cabin is located at the southern end of Gull Lake. It is
about 6 miles from our north gull cabin and enjoys a totally different type
of fishery. While the north end is largely rock and granite outcrops the
south end is largely miles of sand beaches and bottom with prolific weed
beds for mid summer cover. As you go north on the lake the water gets deeper
and rockier and this is where we find the truly huge walleye particularly
late in the summer and into the fall. We routinely hear about 28 inches and
have actually caught a couple (and released) that were 36 inches with
photographs to prove it! The cabin has a point deck and is located in a
gorgeous pine stand with a 2 kilometer hiking trail cut out and maintained
for the active that want more to do than fish. A strategic point deck gives
you an unsurpassed vantage of the east, west and north views for that end of
the day cocktail and wind down session.
